Linda Kasabian helped convict Charles Manson and three others
Some people think she was a hero, helping to put Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten behind bars for life, after the brutal two night murder spree that took the life of seven people in sweltering Los Angeles, August 1969.
Some people think Linda was a villain, a conniver, a drug dealer who robbed people and helped launch ‘Helter Skelter’ but who got away with it thanks to a crafty prosecutor with a book deal.
More than likely, the truth lies somewhere between these two perspectives.
Linda Darlene Drouin Kasabian: Born June 21, 1949 in Biddeford, Maine. She and her 2-year old daughter met Catherine ‘Gypsy’ Share of the Manson Family in June 1969, and were invited to join them at Spahn Ranch. Was present on August 9th when the victims at Cielo Drive were murdered. Escaped days later. Eventually turned herself in to police, testified for the prosecution and won immunity.
On June 27th, Gypsy visited friends in Topanga Canyon. She brought a guitar to the gathering, which she began playing and then struck up a conversation with a petite blonde woman.
