The eternal question - can they be both victims and perpetrators? Of course. Can we assign them both roles when we speak about them - that's certainly what I'm hoping to do, to put the circumstances in their proper perspectives. For me, the realization that some of the killers (the women) actually believed that they were freeing their victims by killing them helped me understand just how far they had fallen (or been pushed perhaps) in the dehumanization process. And while I agree about the ick factor and can't imagine I'd be attracted to Charlie if I'd been 17, 18, 19, I do know I'd be drawn to the group, to the Family, and particularly the other women who facilitated Charlie's trafficking.
