The First Six Steps to YouTube Success

In February 2021, I launched my true crime YouTube channel. Based upon my 2019 book about the Manson Family, my initial plan was to turn about 40% of the book into a docuseries. I created a trailer, and about three months later began actively creating episodes of the docuseries — about 40 that were planned in all.

It is now two years later, and I have switched gears a bit in terms of my strategy but I can say that I have been successful at my YouTube experience. I have a system, and I’m going to share that with you in this series here. I’ll teach you the real stuff that it takes to create content, to grow, and to achieve success. I hate articles that hint at sharing information and are nothing but fluff so I promise this will be a no-fluff zone!!

STEP ONE

The first thing you need to do to achieve success at YouTube is determine what the focus of your channel is going to be about. To do that, you just need to follow a simple formula:

What you know / what people are interested in / what you can offer

This sounds simple, but let me break it down a bit further. You need a channel that focuses on what people want to watch, and being able to deliver exactly that.
